LET’S TALK MENTAL HEALTH

YOU CAN EAT CLEAN

YOU CAN TRAIN WELL

But this results in nothing without a healthy mind…

Here at Fit For Life Youth, we believe that mental health is at the core to leading a happy, healthy and consistent life. Mental health affects how we perform, how we think, how we feel and how we act.

It is so easy to get lost amongst the chaos of life, and get caught up in negativity but remember that this is all in the power of the mind. Pause and prioritise your emotional wellbeing, recognise how you are feeling and put yourself and your health first. If you are not sure on where to start don’t worry, here at FFLY  we have got your needs covered with some top tips over the coming weeks on how to improve your mental health and become your better self.

Environments and Relationships

Have you ever come back from a day at school, work or with friends and wondered if you ‘’fit in’’? Have you just had a sudden rush of adrenaline after walking through a big crowd? Maybe you are involved in a friendship / relationship in which you are afraid of expressing how you feel? Are you under pressure at school, college or work? All of these social environments affect your stress and cortisol levels and can increase anxiety, create irritability and form unhealthy habits which all contribute to your mental health.

Trust your instincts…raise your standards and let go of people that do not bring value to your life. Once you surround yourself with like-minded, mutually respectful influences, you will form positivity and adopt empowering relationships that will benefit you and your goals.

Having the mindset of seeking approval is only opening up opportunities from others to damage your self-esteem; comparing yourself to others is the root to self-destruction! You will never please everyone, by having this mindset you are setting yourself up for failure. Once you realise you are awesome just for being YOU, you will start feeling like you belong and you will attract positivity and the things that are meant for you.

If you are feeling overwhelmed speak up! Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. We as human beings are all wired differently, what is challenging for one person may not be challenging for another, so don’t be so hard on yourself. Take your time. Be proud of acknowledging how you are feeling.

Get outside of your comfort zone.

Tony Robbins says ‘’Growth starts at the end of your comfort zone’’ - and we couldn’t agree more! Yes, it is scary but damn it is rewarding! It may be comfortable sticking to the ordinary and it might satisfy all the things you need to live your life as it is; however, by staying in the same place, you won’t have the incentive to reach new heights of performance.

How does this link to mental health?

Stepping outside of your comfort zone naturally increases personal development and unlocks the feeling of self-belief. It teaches you that you can achieve more than you think, which leads to confidence and increases motivation. By taking the plunge and trying something new you will learn new skills, and experience the growth that you deserve and require whilst opening up new opportunities that may have never even crossed your mind!

Change is the only constant after all….
